Untitled Grey

Untitled Grey

  • Description
Samuelle Green’s large-scale sculptures reference the complex systems inherent in nature from which we borrow and take for granted: a beehive, a bird’s nest, a spider’s web. Constructed from paper and glue, wood and wire, and other everyday items, each work is a study in biomimicry, and each one is an otherworldly environment in and of itself—of growth and decay, order and chaos. These dichotomies are succinctly captured in Untitled Grey, an impressive structure of interwoven shapes and textures that’s far from a simple re-creation of nature, displaying the ephemeral beauty in nature’s designs.

Samuelle Green Fine Art for HOLLY HUNT

Artist

Samuelle Green

Known for her “paper caves,” Samuelle Green references the interaction between human-made and non-human visual languages. She prepurposes discarded material such as paper to highlight the forms and details of nature which are often overlooked. Inspired by the natural world, Green makes sculptures reminiscent of beehives, rock formations and animal scales.
